What support do I have?
We have a dedicated support team to help with your enquiries. They will be able to assist you throughout the process and answer any questions you have about Tenant Referencing.

Once you have registered with us you will also have access to your online user area where you are able to track your applications, obtain instant credit check information and submit requests for comprehensive referencing.
Can I issue my tenants with application forms?
Yes, Rentguard provide both online and offline referencing services. Instant Credit Checks and Full Profile applications can be created online and we accept paper application forms for all services. To download application forms click here.
Do I have to have consent from the people being referenced?
Yes, the individual must always give their consent for us to process their application. If you supply your applicants with Tenancy Application forms then the declaration at the end of the form must be signed and dated.
Instant Credit Checks
When entering personal information for an Instant Credit Check you will be asked to confirm that you have consent from the person being checked.
Online Full Profile Checks
When your tenant/guarantor has completed their online application they will be asked to print, sign and return a declaration which many employers or referees require before releasing personal information.
When will you recommend a guarantor is in place?
We will recommend a guarantor when:
- the applicant has insufficient income
- the applicant has minor credit history problems
- the applicant is unemployed or we are not happy with the status of their employer
- the applicant is self-employed and unable to provide acceptable proof of income
- we receive a negative reference from the current landlord
- the applicant is a student, unemployed or on Housing Benefit
- the applicant’s history of residence or identity can not be verified
- the application is considered generally weak for any other reason.
When will you recommend that the tenancy does not proceed?
We will decline an application when:
- the applicant has severe credit history problems
- the information on the application is found to be fraudulent
